As German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung puts it, the loveliest tenor voice of the present music, Rolando Villazón (34), returns to Prague after the sold-out concert two years ago during which he received unprecedented ovations.

The most sought-after international tenor has seen his career soar. In only a short time he has captivated his public in all the prestigious opera houses of the world. Mexican tenor has become a true favourite with audiences.

His concert is scheduled for 27 February 2007 and takes place in the Municipal House's Smetana Hall. Villazón is going to perform an entirely new programme. In a world premiere, Rolando Villazón will present the best of his broad and wide-ranging repertoire, singing arias from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, Massenet and Gounod. Rolando Villazón will be accompanied by the Prague Philharmonia lead by the Italian conductor Daniele Callegari.

Villazón, sometimes called Mexican Rave, also has an active recording career. He released three solo albums with Virgin Classics and many other songs can be found on different compilations. Together with Patrizia Ciofi and Topi Lehtipuu is featured on the album of Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda by Claudio Monteverdi, conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm.

Rolando Villazón has won a series of prestigious international awards recently. His solo album of French arias was nominated for a Grammy award, and in New York he was honoured with the title Singer of the Year 2005 at the prominent Musical America awards ceremony.
