Belgian rapper Pitcho Womba Konga opens the 6th annual festival called Creative Africa. Today's performance takes place in Archa theatre (Na porici 26, Prague 1) and starts at 8pm.
Pitcho is the founder of the hip-hop group Onde de Choc and one of the best MCs and rappers in Belgium today. His music combines French and Spanish rap, salsa, together with hip-hop and reggae.
The festival, held under the auspices of former president Vaclav Havel, focus on the culture of Congo. Creative Africa – with the subtitle We are all Africans - is the only festival that relates to African theatre in Europe which takes place in Central and Eastern Europe.
The festival shows up performances by African authors and also work by film-makers with roots in one of the African countries. Several works are also broadcasted by Czech public radio station Cesky rozhlas - Vltava.
Prague's programme of the festival culminates with a theatre perfomance of “Czech Africans” of Brazilian dance with African roots - capoeira - in Divadlo na prádle (Besední 3, Prague 1 – Lesser Quarter) on 10 March. The performance will be followed by African entertainment with traditional meals.
Part of the festival programme will be also presented in other Czech cities: in Hradec Kralove, East Bohemia, Liberec, north Bohemia, and Brno, South Moravia.
