EXHIBITION The Gift of Compatriot Harry Kilberger to Czech Museum

2 May 2007, 11:58 - Culture
Between 2005 and 2006 the architect Harry Kilberger, a Czech compatriot who has lived since 1950 in Australia, gave the Náprstek Museum a large collection of his slides, film recordings, ethnographical artefacts and a number of newspaper materials related to various cultural and social themes.

The exhibition is now open in the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American cultures under the name The Gift of Compatriot Harry Kilberger.

The exhibition - that is opened until 9 May - presents a selection of photographs from Australia, New Guinea and Bali, made by Kilberger during his travels in the 1970s. The photographs depict the art of the local original inhabitants and some of their celebrations and customs.

Several lectures accompany the exhibition. For example, on Wednesday 2 May at 5pm you can hear the lecture about the expedition to Arnhem country by traveller Miroslav Prokopec in late 60s.
