First Beer Spa in Czech Republic

Beer health spa has opened in the cellar of the Chodovar brewery, small brewer situated in Chodová Planá in the Tachov region of the Czech Republic.

Believed to be the world’s first beer spa, treatments will include beer baths and beer massages alongside beer cosmetics.

Real Beer Spa bath procedures for 1 person, that includes twenty minutes of bath and otehr twenty minutes of relaxation, with two bottles of Lager Beer costs 550 CZK (approx. 20 Euro). You can also order set of »beer« massages.

The cellar boasts seven large Victorian baths where visitors can immerse themselves in a warm bath mixture of mineral water and dark bathing beer enriched by active beer yeast and a mix of dry, crushed herbs, including hops.

Beer is believed to have many positive effects on the skin and skin conditions and the owners are hoping that the spa will appeal to men who may be deterred from visiting more traditional spas.

»The baths will harmonise the body’s functions and encourage mental rest, reconditioning and relaxation while detectably improving a person’s immunity,« says the owner of the family-managed brewery.

HOW TO GET THERE: from Prague by car: Chodová Planá is near Marianské Lázné, famous West Czech spa city (only traditional spas). You can take highway D5 direction Plzeň (Pilsen) and Rozvadov on German border. Leave the highway on exit 128 (Bor) and ride on road n. 21 (direction Marianské lázně), folow direction to Chodová Planá. Chodovar brewery is in the street Pivovarská n. 107.
