Four days in motion theatre festival currently in Prague

Four and four days in motion – that is the 12th year of the International Theatre Festival that takes places in Prague from 19 to 26 May 2007.

Festival present contemporary innovative theatre projects, unique site-specific projects, exhibition, projections, concerts, the project related website says.

The festival presents around twenty theatre groups from all over the world. And the organizers present quite hard task: To enliven objects of Prague architecture by experimental theatre and dance performances.

The performances take place for example in National Agricultural Museum (Národní zemědělské muzeum) and the nearby park Letná. Dutch group Silo have prepared a art project called Kultivar.

The Silo Theater originated from a group of multidisciplinary artists living and working in the Graan Silo, Westerdoksdijk, Amsterdam. Originally a grain silo, this century old building situated on the bank of the river Ij was squatted in the late eighties.

Home to about 40 artists, it became a hive of multicultural underground activity, including its own restaurant, gallery, bakery, & workshops. After a long, and many would say unjust, battle with the city government, the community was evicted in 1998 to make way for expensive apartments.

If you miss that on the opening day, there are ongoing Silo performances on Wednesday 23 May, Thursday 24 May and Friday 25 May. The presentations start from 9pm on all days mentioned.
