Czech Telecomunication Office, that is responsible for licencing telco operators, considers giving out (or sold) the fourth licence for the mobile operator, server mobilmania.cz cited the interview of the President of the office given to Czech Press Agency.
However, analysts say, the newcomer would have little chance for success. The penetration of the Czech population by mobile phones has already exceeded the total number of Czech inhabitants. The newcomer would compete now three strong multination companies that hols the other licences - Telefónica O2, that merged firm and mobile lines, T-mobile and Vodafone.
Telefónica O2, formerly known as Eurotel in mobile and Český Telecom in wire lines, and T-mobile has almost the same number of customers in mobile segment and they compete for »winning the battle«, while the youngest operator (until last year known as Oskar), that gained licence in 1999, has slightly less customers.
