Military History Institute together with Prague Castle prepared new exhibition of historical weapons and military related artefacts (pictures and old print-outs) from Czech collections. The exhibition takes place in Theresian Wing of Old Royal Palace until mid-June 2007.
The visitors will see the best exhibits from the rich Prague's Military History Institute collections, from the full equipment of soldiers in Austria-Hungarian army up to current soldier uniforms.
Exhibition The beauty of military crafts gathers weapons from Turkey, India, Nepal or Wild West. Among the most attractive guns, Winchester model 1873 called „One of One Thousand“ is the king. Only 133 pieces could bear such name, thanks to accurate shooting parameters. Only 51 pieces of the gun survived until now.
Visitor can also see a gun of Franz Ferdinand d'Este, Hapsburg who was killed in Sarajevo in the eve of the World War I.
Prague Castle also features the permanent exhibition The Story of Prague Castle. This exhibition tells the visitor the story of this largest castle complex in Europe; it is not only about the various architectural styles from Gothic to Art Noveau in which the Castle was built and rebuilt, but also about the rulers from kings to Emperors and presidents and about the scholars or servants who are connected with the place above river Vltava.
You can go through the main route, where you can find out information on various Castle rebuildings. Each room represents one particular era: Old Land Rolls (Prehistory, Prague Castle before 918, Prague Castle 918-1135), Room above The Ducal Chamber (Romanesque), Charles Hall (Gothic), Old Registry (Renaissance and Baroque), Hall of Columns of Vaclav IV (19th Century), Depository for the Court Rolls (20th Century).
And the stories are told in the Old Royal Palace. The stories thematically range from the stories about Patrons of Bohemian Land to the story about banquets and even story of catastrophes.
