Last Match In National Repesentation Says Nedved

15 August 2006, 16:48 - Sport
One of the most popular Czech football players Pavel Nedved said on press conference today that the Wednesday friendly match against Serbia will be the last one in his representation carrier. Nedved currently plays as halfback in Italian Juventus Torino.

This announcement was partly expected. Nedved stepped down once after Eurpean Championship in 2004, but coach Brückner repeatedly invited him to join the representation again. The player took back his decision and joined before the World Championship.

His presence was not useful, Czech team performed badly at 2006 World Championship in Germany. It did not succeed to pass from the basic group after two failures (against Ghana and Italy), and only one win over United States.
