Leave your car at the garage

On Friday 22 September people in cities all around the world in Prague and many Czech towns probably go to work or school without car on foot or by public transport. It is the celebration of the International Car Free Day, that is backed by the European Commission from 2000.

This is accompanied by Critical Mass, group of cyclist going through Prague streets and promoting oil-free and green means of transport. At 6pm on 22 September, a group of cyclist departs from sqaure of Jiřího z Poděbrad in Prague 3 (on metro line A) to a »sightseeing tour« through Prague streets.

As the run-to to its culmination - Car Free Day - Prague will host many presentations and shows related to the topic in the following days, named »Live the city differently« (»Zažít město jinak«).

It is the part of the European mobility week that gets underway in Prague in the following weekend, 16-17 September, with a series of events on Smetanovo nábřeží (river bank). Beginning at 6pm on Saturday, the Old Town embankment plays host to street cafés, live music, video projections and various other happenings.

Free entrance to all events.

6.30pm: Climactically Conditioned by Luna Nera (UK), and A Bike Made for You by PlanB (UK/DE) - interactive art installations

7pm: HM… - Concert

Sunday 17th

Weekend on Smetanovo nábřeží without cars

10am - 4pm: Breakfast in the Street (Street Cafés); DIY Picnic Zones; Cycling Zone; Children's Program (Pottery Workshop, Games, Contests); Artists for the City (including Climactic Conditioned, A Bike Made for You, and Torzo/Korzo); The Environment Festival; Stalls
