The minority centre-right Czech government under Mirek Topolanek lost a vote of confidence on Tuesday. Not all deputies, that were expected to support the government voted in favour.
The Czechs have not had a secure government since the election in June produced a deadlock; another election now looks likely. However, ex-PM Jiri Paroubek (social democrat) believes in his success of forming his governmentand passing the vote of confidence.
Social democrats ranked second in June election, and it is partly expected president Vaclav Klaus would appoint Paroubek as a PM after Topolanek's failed attempt.
According to the Czech constitution, after three failed attemps the Parliament is dissolved and new elections need to take place in 90 days.
