Czechs are going to the polls for the second time this year. After June parliamentary election, a third of the Senate, upper house of the Parliament, is elected together with communal and municipal authorities this Friday and Saturday.
For the Senate, majoritary vote is used. The are 81 constituencies (this year, one third is voted)
. One Senator is voted in one constituency. In the first round, those candidates are elected who get more than 50 % of valid voted. If no candidate is chose in the first round, two candidate with the highest number of votes go on to the second round. This contest takes place next Friday and Saturday. Candidate who receives more votes is elected the senator then.
