Strings Of Autumn For 11th Time

2 October 2006, 11:12 - Music
International Music Festival started on 23 September and comes into its 11th year. The Strings of Autumn Festival was inaugurated in 1996 Marek Vrabec and Martin Pechanec - originally as a concert series of the Prague Castle Administration which was the very first unified concert series in the modern history of the Castle.

Already during the first years of its existence Strings of Autumn won a significant place in cultural and social life, and its open-minded programming made it a striking alternative to the concert offerings of other leading Prague presenters. As a result of a decision by the new management of the Prague Castle Administration in 2004, the Strings of Autumn Festival is bidding farewell to the Prague Castle after eight successful seasons.

The new co-presenters of the festival become the Czech Philharmonic, the National Theatre and the National Museum.

Strings of Autumn offers a colorful palette of music as reflected by modern musical life. Therefore the programming consists not only of classical music - in both modern and 'authentic' interpretations - but also of jazz, world music, and crossover projects that bridge the gaps between genres as they are traditionally conceived. Programs are often created on commission especially for the festival as unique productions. In other cases their inventiveness lies in unusual collaborations of artists from seemingly incongruous worlds, or in a special resonance with the environment of the chosen concert hall. Three programming series - CROSSOVER, INSPIRATIONS, and LUMINARIES - have become characteristic of Strings of Autumn.
