Czech capital has been ranked 13th position among the world cities in revenue per hotel room for 2006. Prague achieved a revenue per available room of 85.10 EUR (2383 CZK), says the recent survey by audit company KPMG and The Bench. Average room rate and room occupancy were compared in the survey.

Prague jumped over Italian Rome or German Hamburg. No other Central or Eastern European city could be found in the Top 15, the survey shows.

All this means that Prague is attracting more and more travellers who are seeking not only hotel room, but those who are seeking above all luxurious hotel room. And that is why Prague is becoming popular also for investors into hotel business and hotel chains. They are competing in the quality of services provided – and they are competing in numbers of stars.

For example, Scandinavian hotel chain Radisson SAS has the greatest ambitions. It is about to built seven stars hotel in Prague city centre near Revolucni street, Czech newspaper Hospodarske noviny informed on Wednesday. The same hotel chain already operates Radisson SAS Alcron hotel near Wenceslas Sqaure.

Hospodarske noviny also informed about plans of hotel companies such as Rocko Forte, Kempinski or French Le Royal Meridien. The latter wants to invest more than 1 billion CZK into the reconstruction of nice Renaissance building in Senovazne namesti – now belonging to one of the biggest Czech banks – and open one of the most luxurious hotels in the city by 2009.

The trend is quite obvious: More expensive and more luxury four and five stars hotels are now opening in Prague. The number of newly opened hotels in the last five years reached one hundred. Most of them with shining four or five stars. In 2001, there were only ten five stars hotels in the whole Czech Republic, now you can count more than 30 hotels belonging to the highest category just in Prague.

Now investors want to offer something special and plans about the seven stars hotel in Prague will be surely soon presented. First seven star hotel in Europe has been just opened in Milan, Italy (see www.townhouse.it). The hotels of such quality usually offer personal servant to all guest, greatest offer of quality of wines or whatever the client asks.

And for those who are seeking the most luxurious hotels in Prague now, we have the following tips: Four Seasons, Hilton, InterContinental, Marriott or Mandarin Oriental Prague, which was opened last year.
